Feeling Bleugh? Here’s 4 Tips To Get Moving
We all have those days (or weeks) where the idea of exercising feels… impossible. You’re tired, overwhelmed, and the couch is winning. Sound familiar?
When motivation is low, the trick is not to wait for it, but to meet yourself where you're at, and shift gently. Here are four tried-and-true tips to help you get going, even when you're feeling "bleugh":
1. Just Do 5 Minutes
Sometimes "working out" feels like a massive task with way too many expectations. That’s when aiming for just 5 minutes becomes your secret weapon. It feels doable, gets you that lovely dopamine hit of completing a task, and more often than not, those 5 minutes turn into 15 without you even realising.
2. Pick One Thing
A walk, a few stretches, or a couple of kettlebell swings, just pick one. Don’t get stuck trying to figure out which form of movement is "best." In these moments, the best thing you can do is anything. The goal isn’t to tick off a perfect plan; it’s to remind your mind and body how good movement feels.
3. Keep It Simple
Overcomplicating your workout plan is a surefire way to stay stuck. When in doubt, strip it back.
Try this:
5 laps around your block
10 sun salutations
3 rounds of: 15 reps each of an upper body, lower body, and core exercise
That’s it. No fluff, no pressure, just simple movement that builds momentum.
4. Get Help
Still stuck in the funk? Then let someone else do the planning for you. This is where ready-to-go workouts and coaching can really help.
Personally, I’ve been using my Busy Babes Circuits Collection when I need a gentle nudge. Having a go-to set of short, effective workouts on hand makes it so much easier to press play and just go.
